Saint Arsenios Monastery

The Holy Monastery of Saint Arsenios from Cappadocia in Vatopaidi, Halkidiki is located approximately 8 kilometers from our accommodation. The male monastery (Holy Hermitage) of Saint Arsenios of Cappadocia was founded in 1986 and inaugurated by the Metropolitan of Kassandria, Mr. Synesios, as it belongs ecclesiastically to this Metropolis. It was established with the encouragement and blessing of the blessed Saint Paisios of Mount Athos.

Saint Arsenios of Cappadocia was the successor of Elder Paisios. He emerged as one of the holiest figures of Orthodoxy in recent centuries. Saint Arsenios died in 1924 in Corfu after the population exchange.

The monastery celebrates on November 10, the day of the Dormition of Saint Arsenios, and on October 1, the Holy Shroud of the Virgin Mary.
